My Year in Review

Can you believe that the year is almost over? I'm in complete denial. I've decided to dazzle everyone with a summary of my big events of the year. Just in case you missed them.

August 2008--I know what you are thinking. . .the biggest news of August was that 2 guys in north Georgia found Bigfoot. Yes, I was very scared because that's close to my house!

Well, it was also the month of my birth. When I look back through the headlines, though, it's all about a guy named Michael Phelps who competed in some big international agility contest. He isn't even a husky. Where's the love, America!
September 2008--Getting bigger. . . A whole bunch of political mumbo-jumbo on my TV. That was some good TV to sleep to.

October 2008--Found Kelly and John and seduced them with my sneaky husky powers. This is my first picture at our house. . .

November 2008--Fall was cool. I got to eat lots of leaves (my favorite!) Kelly's parents came for Thanksgiving. Gentle Leader (yuck). Presidential Election. This is me looking maverick-y.

December 2008--Santa Claus actually came to my house!!!! AND I got to play with my sis Dief at her house. That was the BEST.

We'll that's a pretty big year, huh? I hope that your year was as interesting as mine. I hear that there are some other months involved in a typical year. Next year I'll find out.
Here's to a great 2009!

P.S. Please take part in my poll.
Feeling old,
Ozzie

Best Make and Model for Sleeping

Some of you have commented on the pictures of me sleeping in John's lap. This is not a coincidence. . I ACTUALLY PLANNED IT. While most of my litter mates (except Dief of course) were busy frolicking around and pooping, I was doing research.

Lean in really close to the computer because I have something special to say. . and I have to say it in my inside voice. Are you really close? Are your ears almost touching the monitor?

Ok, good. Here it goes. . .

The Male May 1973 model of human is the comfiest model ever built for sleeping. You must seek out and find one immediately. When people came to my house adopting my litter mates I waited patiently for the Male May 1973 model. When I found one, I tested it out by sleeping in his lap while he was signing a bunch of papers and talking about me. He was verrrry comfy. Then I tested the Female June 1973 model. Not as comfy--but OK. That's when I worked my special husky puppy powers. Who could resist this:

I highly recommend test-driving this model as soon as possible. If any of you can't find one, I would consider loaning mine out in exchange for some bones and kibble.

Paws,

Ozzie

Santa IS real. . but he goes by another name. . .

It's true. Turns out that I really was more "nice" than "naughty."

Let me take you on a recap of my past few days. Kelly has had a cold, so I've had to take complete photographer duties.

Dec 24th.--Waiting. Fell asleep waiting on the couch in my favorite comfy spot.
Woke up later in the day to a package from the mail lady. There was a package that was labeled to Kelly and John but it turns out that it was really for me! Aunt Nazila and Uncle Dave sent me doggie cookies, a sweater and a reindeer. Completely color coordinated--Huffle, eat your heart out!
As these were my favorite presents, I've decided that Santa's real name is "Aunt Nazila." That works for me. Thank you so much Nazila and Dave for my presents!!!!

Dec 25th.--Kelly and John bought this for each other. . .hmmm. . interesting. They say it's because of me.
I got a few presents, here's the low down:

1. Cinnamon bear--Love it!
2. Leather leash--Not sure yet. .
3. These things. .whatever they are. . .
Well, John and Kelly don't know yet that those are mine.

4. A new fold able kennel....GREAT!!!

5. A bag of yummy beef treats which are supposedly for my 'training.'

In the afternoon Kelly and John cooked a whole bunch of food. Of course, I wasn't allowed to have any. But I DID get to go to the golf course to WORK. I LOVE working. Here's a picture of me helping dad inspect the grass. Does that look like grass to you, John? Looks like grass to me! Nice work!
I'll post more pictures of our working tomorrow!

I hope you are all enjoying a nice, mellow, Friday.

Waiting . . .

Still no signs of presents. . .getting very worried. . .

I'm going to sit right here and wait. . .
Merry Christmas everyone!

Naughty??

As a result of said 'Naughty or Nice' list apparently I've been "naughty" this year. Furthermore, I don't see any gifts for me around the house. John and Kelly have droves of gifts and not one for yours truly. They keep telling me that my 'presence' is enough of a present and that I should be thankful for just being in a wonderfully loving home. Yea, Yea, right, WHATEVER!!! Give me the goods! So I'm writing a letter to Santa to see if I can't get him to see the light.

Excerpts follow:

Dear Santa,

I hear that I am on your naughty list this year. I don't appreciate it! I think that you are chubby and that I should be tenderizing and exercising you and your elf friends. If you do not bring me presents I will plan on eating you in mid-March.

blah, blah, blah, opening paragraphs. . . .Here's the juicy part:

. . . .Furthermore, you should stop all shipment of presents to Kelly and John immediately. This is why:

1. Kelly is a terrible photographer. I am having to do all of her work for her. She deserves only a few nibbles and kisses.

2. I am forced to wear something they call the "gentle leader." After doing hours of research on the Discovery Channel and on the internet I am convinced that the "gentle leader" bears a resemblance to a medieval torture device currently on display at the Tower of London. I'm contacting the folks in Switzerland to see if they can't arrange an asylum visa for me. I'm looking forward to cheese, Roger Federer and a Swiss Miss.

3. The crate. I hate it! Need I say more.

Here are a few reasons why I deserve presents:

1. I'm cute.

2. I have been very good this morning.

3. I'm loosing my baby teeth and it hurts.

4. I do all their stupid tricks like sit, stay, call to 'come', and lay down. Heck, I even 'wait.'

5. I am growing exceptionally well and will soon need new fur as I am growing out of my current one.

Some misc. garbage about how I think Santa's a cool guy and how I'll promise to be good this year. . .whatever. . .

Do you think this is going to work? Is there any hope for me this year. . or am I doomed. If I am doomed can I just move in with you, Dief? It looks like you have a pretty good set up at your house. (Minus that nasty Echo fellow of course.)

Paws crossed,

Ozzie.

Mid-Week Update: Playtime with Dief

I am doing a mid-week update because I simply cannot contain myself.

Sunday was the BEST DAY EVER! I got to play with my sister Dief. I haven't seen her since I was seven weeks old. I'm now almost 16 weeks old--so that is more than half of my life.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Not so good! Luckily, Dief's mom Cate is an outstanding photographer so you'll want to check out her blog to actually get a good idea of what happened. I can't be too angry at Kelly about this one. What can I say. . .Dief and I were running around really, really fast. I'm surprised that anyone could even see us!

I know. . we're really fast. We must be related.

This is us doing our "Call of the Wild" pose. Dief is on the left, I'm on the right. Don't we look fierce.

Here we go, finally a decent shot. I'm trying to entice Dief with my nibbles. This usually works with all of the ladies. . Come to me Dief. . come closer to my nibbly mouth. I want to chomp on your furry face. . .Ooops. Sorry, I'm getting carried away. She was soooo tasty!!!!
Thank you Dief for playing with me and thank's Cate for letting me come over. I hope you can come to my house soon!
BIG ARRRUUUUUUUUs

Thank's Khyra! She was so nice to give me this lovely award. I feel especially loved to recieve it. This is my first award and it means everything to me. I want to pass it on to others that have influenced me to be a better (and sometimes slightly naughtier) pup. You all are very important to me and I love to talk to you every day. Stay fuzzy!

"This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
The following fuzzies also get this awesome award:
My wonderful sister DIEF!
My missing brother Nanook
The Army of Four All of you are very inspirational
The Qween: Meeshka You always make me giggle
Addie who is also growing up as a puppy
The Daily Echo because we all need to know as much as we can about squirrels underpants
The Thundering Herd because there are just so many of them and they are all so cute
And of course the undeniable Huffle who amongst other things has the neverending need for ham!

Thank you all and others too who have helped me and my humans through these crazy times!

New Pictures of Me. . Ozzie!

As you all know, Kelly has been relieved of her duties as my personal photographer. In these tough economic times, I'm feeling a little bit guilty. So I have decided to pay her a small hourly wage (in kisses and nibbles of course) to post the photographs that I have been taking. Here are a few that I'd like to share:

This is me looking serious and a little bit sad.

This one I am particularly fond of. As you can see, I was experimenting with the camera and I was able to capture myself kicking John's butt. I'm pretty sure that I won this one. Notice the paw to the face.

This is where the magic happens. I write my blogs from this spot. The computer is right behind me. You'll also see my green weather station. This tells me the temperature both indoors and out. I could stay here all day if I didn't have to get into that stinky "crate."

Trying to relax with the "gentle leader" One day, I will dominate it. . .

Another one of my personal faves. My brother Nanook has been digging a moat around his house and a tunnel to China. Up until this week I wasn't quite sure what all this "digging" was about. We had three inches of rain on Wednesday and Thursday and I finally had a glorious moment of discovery. Digging is fun!!!! Here I am after a successful dig in the driving rain. You can see the water dripping off of my nose and the dirt on my paws. I'm pretty proud of my work.

Well, I hope that you have all enjoyed my pictures and that Kelly appreciates the fact that I still have her on the payroll. I'm hoping that she'll start doing my Christmas shopping this afternoon. Think thoughts of cookies . . .
Have a good Saturday everyone.
Paws,
Ozzie

Get to know you thingy...

Hello Everyone.

Wrapping paper. It's fun to rip open :-)

Real. Nice for chewing on. I usually like it with a few pine cones on it for special garnish.

3. When do you put up the tree?
That's all up to John and Kelly. As of yet, I have not grown any thumbs. Still waiting. . .

6. Favourite Xmas gift received as a child?
My stuffed tootsie roll squeaky. That's my favorite gift period.

Wizzin' the crate

I am in a miserable state.

All I want to do is be with my humans. I love and devote all my affection to them and what do they do(besides feed, love and house me) is try to make me get into their stupid crate. They say I am supposed to like it, and I don't mind sleeping in it at night, but during the day I hate it. I feel ok if they are within sight, but the second they leave, I know they are gone forever. So I do what any good baby boy would do....cry! I just wnat to make sure they know where I am.

And then the worst thing happens when they go...I can't help myself. I almost always pee my fur. It sucks!! And it leaves this unsightly stain on my pillow. They have always washed it immediately, but on more than one occasion I had to sleep on the hard pan that is under the pillow. Not comfy...sad ozzie :(

So what's a boy to do. I want to do anything I can to make them happy because I adore them but this thing is not my freind. I am going to show them how good I am and go sleep in it right now. I wanna keep trying.

Anybody have any suggestions? I am all ears (arooo roo roo :) - my first attempt at pointy ear humor.

Frustrated...

Ozzy

The Week My World Stood Still...

So they think they are going to take my dominance over them away. HMMPPH!
These two have forced me to succumb to mutiple forms of harsh treatment.

Exhibit A:

My grandmother forcing me to join into who knows what? All the while singing "home on the range."

Exhibit B: They made me wear hand-me-down boxing gloves which they called 'MuckLucks.' They claim they were for the snow but I question their tactics. I feel they are trying to quell my desire to rule the world.

It was raining pretty hard this weekend and they had a matching rain coat that was also quite used.
Here's a shameful picture of the whole ensemble... I am so crushed!

I had none of it! Luckily the gloves were too big for me, so I flung them off with all my might...and then did what I do best. Yum!

And finally, yesterday I had to go deal with this overzealous woman who made me wear this strange torture device. She says 'its for my training.' I think it's been designed to make me go cross-eyed looking at it while I try to pry it off with my paws. I don't know what exactly I am training for. Perhaps to be far sighted. Anyone know?

I am watching them closely as I feel they are in cahoots with the new lady "trainer'' human.
Eating them is sounding better all of the time.

Disgruntled as usual

Ozzie
